Jack has had over a hundred short stories published. Many of his short stories have been published in Anthologies, Magazines and Newspapers. Some of the Anthologies were, Devenish Island, The Waterside, The First Communion, Voyages of Discovery, and Forty Shades of Green. Jack’s stories have won and been placed in short story competitions. His story, “County Champion Three Times” won best fiction in the Downtown Radio competition. Other short stories of Scoltock’s were placed in Downtown’s terrific competition to encourage new writers.

Jack Scoltock was also commissioned by the Northern Ireland Fire Brigade and the Southern Education Board to write a story that would fit into a pamphlet on Arson. This pamphlet was distributed to schools throughout the Southern Education Board area. The story, “Maeve” was read by Jack at the launch of the pamphlet in the City Hall in Belfast.

In 2008, In Living. Learning.Together a planned and progressive Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (PDMU) programme for 5-11 year olds, An abbreviated version of Jack’s story, “Maeve” has been used again in Key Stage 2 year six (speaking up for me). The pamphlet materials were put out by the Northern Ireland Curriculum.
